World Wide Knit in Public Week

I took a break yesterday from most of my projects.
It was the first day of World Wide Knit in Public Week 2013 and I just had to join in on the fun!

I put a couple of projects into my bike basket and headed out
early in the morning to meet a friend at the Marketplace.

We locked up our bikes and grabbed our things...

...and went into the Breakfast Club.

The weather was beautiful and we were lucky to get a table outside.

Of course, I had to get a yummy soy vanilla latte to enjoy with my "California Omelet"
that had tomatoes, avocado, bacon and artichokes hearts in it and some fresh salsa on top
(I had them leave off the cheese).  It also came with a bowl of delicious fresh fruit.  Yum!

After breakfast, we moved our bikes to another area of the Marketplace and sat at an
outside table with an umbrella to do a little stitching.  My friend worked on crocheting
a cute and handy basket.  I worked on my new crochet shawl with some of my new yarn.
I later pulled out a knitting project and worked on that for a while.

Hubby surprised us when he biked up on his cruiser and sat with us for a while.
We popped into Starbucks to get some chilly drinks, visited a while longer,
and then we all hopped on our bikes to ride home. What fun!

Are you participating in World Wide Knit in Public Week?

I did not know World Wide Knit in Public Week existed, but thanks to you, now I do. I am doing some re-organizing in my creative space and will get out some knitting so I too can knit in public.

How fun!

I love the bike baskets! It looks and sounds like you had such a lovely time! One of the few drawbacks of living rural is you can't ride a bike to the marketplace and relax with a Starbucks, well, OK you could that is if you're up to riding round trip about 40 miles... eeek!

What a fun day! We have no where to ride out bikes at home without carting them somewhere, roads are too curvy and narrow by our house. I'm thinking of bringing them to the coast and leaving them here - they'll get ridden more.

I'll have to do some knitting in public this week.

I have got to dig my bike out! It's been trapped behind some unfinished winter projects of the hubby's :( I want to make a basket liner this summer. I don't know if I'll be able to knit in public until the end of the week. That is unless I knit at lunch tomorrow while waiting on our food to arrive.

I've never heard of Public Knitting Week, but it sounds like a great idea. You made it sound like so much fun meeting up for an early meal and coffees on the patio :) I like to knit on my private patio with tea in my backyard, but today is chucking down rain yet again so that isn't an option. Have a great week ;) Wendy
