Thank You!

I want to say, "thank you" for the comments ya'll left for me on my last post...and every post.  They mean so much to me.  They warm my heart, make me feel like I'm not alone, that other people understand and are going through similar situations, and add extra brightness to my day.  There sure are wonderful people out here in blogland!  :-D

I got a lot done at my parents' over those couple of days.  Enough of the necessary stuff was moved so they would be able to comfortably start staying at the new place.  And, I had enough stuff cleared to make way for the furniture mover to come in yesterday and do his job.  He'll be back today to finish up.

It wasn't an easy task.  My mom seems to be a collector of everything...even things that many of us would consider to be trash or throw into our recycle bins.  And, she wasn't interested in even considering parting with a single thing.  Combine that with the fact that she hadn't even attempted to start packing before the move and that she tends to walk around looking dazed and confused made it even more challenging.  I had to just take charge and get stuff done.  I tried to gently lead her into things to do.  But, even that became challenging as she'd have little tantrums (like a child) and say, "I don't want to do that!".  Ugh!  But, I kept plowing ahead, moving all I could, even trash!  I'm hoping that I'll be able to finish clearing and cleaning up their old place next week.  Wish me luck!

I had a nice break yesterday.  My mother-in-law and I went to see my daughter perform in a harp ensemble concert and have lunch.  The concert was awesome!  Especially when the three harps were playing "Carol of the Bells"!  Oh my gosh!  It was so incredible...it made me cry!  And, of course, it's always great to spend some time with her and my mother-in-law too.  Here's picture I took with my phone....  That's my daughter playing the harp in the middle.

Well, I'm off again in a few minutes for a busy morning.  But, I have my afternoon free (Wow!) and I'm planning to take some photos for blogging so I can catch up even more.  Have a wonderful day! And, thanks for stopping by!  :-)

The concert is just what your spirit needed! When I was in high school, we had an assembly for a concert...when the woman came on stage with her harp there were a lot of groans until she began to play...She totally mesmerized everyone. Needless to say, she received a standing ovation. I will never forget it!

I am glad you had the concert to take your mind of your parents' big move.

Blogging really does help us know that everyone seems to be busy and trying to do a lot. I love being busy...it keeps me excited about life. Love the photo of the concert. I know you enjoyed it! Have a good afternoon! Hugs!

Bless your dear heart. If your parents, especially your mom, seem angry with you after this, it's just that they didn't want to move, and everything is new and confusing. If the silverware has been in the same drawer for 27 years, it's going to be hard to find the silverware in a new place. When we helped my husband's best friend move, I threw out over a hundred empty cottage cheese cartons. (Neatly washed and stacked.) It took a while for them to get over being mad at me for that.

Old age is so cruel. I'm preparing myself to ease into it graciously.

Good luck and hooray for your dear daughter!

Hi, Roxie. Thanks for stopping by. Actually, my parents move every couple of years or so. They're like gypsies. It was hard to do this as my brother and I were growing up. It's amazing how much stuff they can add to the move each time. Her upset comes from alzheimers. She's becoming a different person from it. Sad.

I feel for you dealing with the move for your folks. I moved my folks out here to OR from the Jersey shore in 2002. I went back to help them pack and found that nothing had been done and then they sat and watched me pack everything and set up a garage sale for them and arrange for donations/hazardous waste, etc. My dad had alzheimers but he was really very easy going about it all and helped where he could - usually taping up the boxes.

I bet the concert was beautiful.

So glad you had a nice, relaxing concert after all of your busy days. Your daughter is so talented, playing the harp is no easy task. I bet you are so, so proud of her.
Hugs,
Meredith

Hi Cheryl, I've been so busy that I hadn't even seen this news! I'm so sorry. I can totally understand your frustration. My in-laws were and still are in somewhat of a similar situation. Hopefully we can have lunch again after the dust settles after the Holidays. Sending lots of hugs and praying for you!
