Here it is...side one of my vest...
This is the back side and I'm about to start on the front. It should have been done faster because it really does knit up quickly...much more so than I had imagined. I've just been busy with other things and haven't devoted much time to it.
I had set out to make this garment as a lead up to bigger and better things...like sweaters. I had hoped I would learn a couple things from it. I'm actually learning a lot more than I had expected. It's very exciting. I'm sure I have a lot more learning ahead as I knit the "V" in the front, sew it together, and add the ribbed edging on the arm holes and neck. I'm still crossing my fingers though that it will fit, look good, and that I'll love it.

Love that color... how long have you been knitting? You wrote something about learning from this and moving on to sweaters? You've knitted a sweater haven't you? You don't have the tension of a beginner... you are awesome! But how do you knit on those straights? I'm so much more comfortable on circulars.
Woo-Hoo!! the back is done yay!!!
Love the color, can't wait to see your completed vest...
ME
Jomamma - No, I'm not a beginning knitter as far as knitting goes...just as far as sweaters and garments go. I've been putting it off because I don't want to spend a bunch of time or money on something and not want to wear it. I looked through patterns for years before I decided on this one. I love Ravelry because it's nice to see how a pattern worked out for other people before I try it. This pattern looked like it would have good odds of working out. I'm hoping. In the meantime, I'm learning. That's always good. :-)
It looks great! I think maybe I was inspired by you the other day to choose purple yarn for my skirt. I couldn't turn away from it at the store!
P.S....Jomamma...I don't like the straights either...especially the metal ones. But, it was the only ones I had in the size I needed. Circulars are nice.
That deep band of ribbing is very handsome indeed!
Lovely purple!
So this is your first, eh? Cool! A sweater newbie!
Mind you, I love knitting vests. They are so versitile and you can wear them more seasons than full sweaters.
