Spring Break

Zion National Park is one of our favorite places on earth.  We've been there as a family many times.
And, my husband and I have been going even more often the past few years.  Our daughter, however, has been so busy with college that she hasn't had a chance to go in a long time.  She was really missing it!  We started making plans last fall to spend her spring break there.  She worked very hard to keep that week open.  We packed our trailer a couple of weeks ago and off we went!

We never tire of the scenery there.  The massive rocks are amazing!  We love watching the rocks every evening at sunset as they constantly change and glow with beautiful shades of orange.

Here's our campsite in Watchman Campground...

There were storms that week that brought beautiful clouds.
It rained all day one of the days we were there.  We just hung out in the trailer
that day and relaxed to the wonderful sound of it hitting the roof.

The canyon was glowing green from all of the new leaves that were popping out on the trees.
It seemed to be more green each day.  Spring had arrived!

We had planned a lot of things to do that week.
One of those things was a mountain bike ride on the Guacamole Trail.
The weather was perfect that day and we had the trail all to ourselves.
We only saw one person up there that day and he was leaving as we were starting out.
The silence was amaaaaaazing and beautiful!

So were these gorgeous red cactus blooms we saw near the trail.

We made sure to visit our favorite restaurant several times during the week.
Cafe Soleil has some of the best coffee around and the food is delicious!
This is my favorite breakfast there...eggs, mushrooms, potatoes, spinach, tomatoes,
peppers, onions and I like to put a little hot sauce on it.  Yummmmm!

We took our daughter canyoneering for her first time, visited a ghost town, discovered a whole different side of Zion, and hiked an incredible trail we'd never done while we were there too.
I'm working on those posts and plan to have them up over the next few days.

Thanks for stopping by!  :-)

How fun to be on vacation with your daughter and in Zion which is one of my favorite vacation spots.

And there are so many other spots in Utah that we have yet to see.

I'm finally catching up on blog-reading, and I'm so glad I came here this morning! Those southwest colors are amazing, and I remember very clearly how it seemed the early Spring landscape would become a tiny bit greener before your eyes.
