Yarning into the New Year

A lot of people like to go out for New Years Eve.  I used to.  And, I might again someday.
But, I love spending the evening at home, away from all the craziness.
We like to make an extra yummy and fun dinner and just relax.
We usually have the TV on and watch movies and stuff.  This year I had another monster
sinus headache (I've had way too many of those lately because of the extra dry weather).
So, we never turned the TV on.  But, I eventually felt good enough to
play with some yarn.  Remember this yarn that I got at a gift exchange?...

Turns out that it's even prettier when it's worked up than it was in the skein.
I love it!  I only have about 300+- yards.  So, after researching patterns on Ravelry and
playing around with some different ideas, I've landed on making a cowl with it.
There should be plenty of yarn for that.

I spent time on it yesterday morning too.  Such a great way to start the new year!
I'm about half way done with it.  I expect to have it finished very soon.
I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished cowl.

How did you spend your New Years Eve?

Fantastic! We knew it was going to work up beautifully! My sinus headache is beginning to loosen its grip...grateful for knitting to while away the hours.

That yarn is simply spectacular! I love how it works up, too. I'm thinking I need some red alpaca to make a shawl for next winter. We just hung out and didn't do anything at all for NYE.

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

We did pretty much the same - nice dinner, watched a movie and I knit during the movie - went to bed way before midnight.

The blue cowl is so pretty.

That yarn is beautiful.

I thought of you yesterday. We took a family bicycle ride from Ventura to Ojai. I had a slow leak in my tire and it turns out that I made most of the ride uphill in my lowest gear. I was exhausted and I finally realized that it wasn't that I was out of shape (although I am), but that the tire was flat. We ate lunch at the Ojai Valley Inn and then the family left me to race downhill and get the car. Nothing was open on New Year's Day to get the tire fixed.

It is a beautiful bicycle ride, the Ojai Valley Inn is a beautiful location and I recommend that you try the ride sometime. But, definitely with fully inflated tires.

Hope your headache is long gone. I bought a new "invisible mist" humidifier a few weeks ago, and it it helping a lot with the comfort level.

Sorry you weren't feeling so good but once you recovered it sounds like you had a wonderful evening. Just the perfect way to let in the new year.
Your knitting always inspires me and if I ever find my needles and a little yarn, I'm going to settle by the log fire and give it a go. It's been far to long.
Gorgeous yarn and I love that colour too.
Enjoy xoxo

We don't go out for New Year's Eve any more either ... much prefer being home with movies & munchies with just my small family ... which is exactly what we did! The cowl looks gorgeous with that beautiful blue yarn. Very similar to something I finished up for my daughter at Christmas (will be posting of that soon).

Nothing makes winter worse than a sinus headache, yech!
I love seeing what people create with yarn. I knit and crochet, but I'm an amateur trying to learn new things to make with all the yarn I've collected. That cowl is going to be a pretty one!
While looking for a few new blogs to follow, I came across your happy little blog over at Vicki's '2 Bags Full', in the 2014 Blog Party event. While scrolling through your last few posts, I noticed yarn and a cat. That's good enough for me.
So hello from Saskatchewan, Canada!
