Just Curious

The number of hits to my blog are at an all time high. And, I have more followers. I love that! But, the amount of comments I recieve seems to down. I'm not quite sure why that is. Something that really has me curious is a regular visitor from Mountain View, California. They visit often and seem to only visit my old posts. I'm not sure if they've ever left a comment. I'd sure like to hear from them and about what keeps bringing them back so often...sometimes daily and sometimes more than once a day. I love blogging, but, to be honest, if it weren't for comments, I'd probably stop doing it. They mean a lot. Even though I'm getting lots of hits, the comments show me that I'm not just talking to myself. I love hearing what readers think of what I say and pictures I post. I love getting feedback. And, I just plain love hearing from you. Thanks for visiting! :-)

Well, here's a comment from Susan on Vancouver Island....
I've been enjoying your trip to Zion!

I also hope to catch better glimpses of your airedale as well.

I have the same situation: loads of hits and many are visiting past posts. One person from Brooklyn, NY comes almost religiously to one old post about a dear friend who wove a stunning tapestry. Sometimes 3-5 times a day! They are down to once in a blue moon now but we make a little joke about it and "Oh, they're back!"

Its hard to say why people don't leave comments....and the ones who do, always do! They most likely have a blog and know the feeling!

If you'd like to learn more about your visitors, then install a feedjit widget (free) on your blog and you can actually see them in real time and where they come from.
There is one at my blog Thrums and a link to click to get your own.

Zion looks amazing....thanks for sharing!

Hi, I have an answer to your Mountain View, CA question. it's actually Google. GoogleReader to be specific. I get hundreds of hits from that a week. It took some time, but I finally got the answer. Their IP ranges from my site are and another one . The fourth series of digits changes, but for sure it's "Them" just indexing your feed, looking for new or changed posts, that sort of thing. Harmless.

My traffic's up and comments are down too - also lots of hits from Mountain View.

Who knows why though!

I've been wondering that too for some time now, but I was gonna say the same thing as someone already wrote about the Google hits from Mountain View.

Same here. My traffic count is higher than it ever was, but I don't get that many comments anymore. I just figured it was because everyone is so busy that they like to catch up on their favorite blogs, but don't take the time to comment. I have GoStats for monitoring the visitors to my site and it is very interesting to see some of the search people do to hit my site.
