I did it!!

I did it! I just finished knitting a lace sock! Wow! I'm so proud of me!!! And, it was sooooooo fun!!! I enjoyed every stitch. It's the first of my pair of "Monkey Socks". It's two lace repeats short of what the pattern called for but my yarn balls were 20 yards short of what it called for too. So, I made it work. I ended with just a little bit left. It turned out a bit big...I think the yarn I used was a bit thicker than it should have been. It would probably look really great if I blocked it but then it would be extra big. I've considered ripping it out and using this yarn for a different sock but it was so cool knitting it that I went ahead and finished it off. If they turn out to be too big to wear with shoes, I can just wear them around the house. Either way, I'm sooooo happy about this sock. It was soooo fun!!! I know it doesn't really look like "lace" but I believe it's considered to be that. It wasn't hard at all like I thought it would be. And...the good news is... maybe...just maybe..."lace" isn't the bad four letter word I thought it was. lol

It's hard to get a picture of a sock on my own foot but these are the best of the bunch that I took. Maybe I can get someone to take a better one later...or when I have two monkey socks! :-)

After I finish these I get to find a new sock pattern to knit with some beautiful Cherry Tree Hill yarn that I just bought. It's finer and I think it will probably work a lot better for lace type socks. Now that I've finally been brave enough to move beyond ribbed socks, I'm so excited when I look at all the possibilities. I knew a sock knitting obsession was forming...but now I know I'm truly obsessed! heeheeehee waaaahahahaaaha ;-)

Thanks, guys! :)

That's funny about it being monkey colored...especially since I can't stand monkeys. Maybe the sock should be renamed to...hmmm...my husband said they look like dirt color...that's not much better...maybe chocolate?? lol That would go good with a knit banana. lol

The designer said she called them "Monkey" because she had to monkey around with the design for a while to get it to work. Yours look great! I love the colorway.
