Sweet Harvest

We harvested out sweet potatoes this week...

We're actually amazed that they grew!  We don't have the greenest of thumbs.  In fact, the only things we've been successful at the past few years are herbs and some tomatoes.  Oh, and the lemons and figs that seem to grow no matter what.  Everything else we've tried has failed.  So, this is pretty exciting!  And, they're quite yummy!  So far, we've had them steamed and made some into baked French fries.  I have a few other ideas I plan to try.  I'll keep you posted!

I love sweet potatoes. Just diced, coated with olive oil and roasted in the oven. Yum, yum, yum! I tossed a spudding potato into a pot one time and another potato actually grew which I thought was pretty exciting. We had tomatoes last year, and I actually bought more plants this year, but was waiting to get a bigger pot for them and in the meantime they didn't survive. Boo! Enjoy your bounty.

That is wonderful, there is nothing more satisfying than food that you have grown yourself. I am a great fan of a baked sweet potato.

Oh what fun - I love sweet potatoes in any form. Take a look at this soup I posted on my blog a while back to see if you'd like to give it a try - it's outstanding.

Wow, nice harvest! I've been eating more sweet potatoes since learning they can be microwaved so quickly.

How brilliant!!! You have masses of them. I love sweet potato fries, and roasted in the oven and, well, pretty much however you cook them they are yummy aren't they. I hope that you enjoy eating them as much as you did growing them! xx

Oh beautiful! One of my favorites, love to bake them, put a pat of real butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon on them.

One of the things I wanted to do when I retired was plant a vegetable garden, but I have not done so. You make me want to do so.

Are you getting the rain? We know that June Mountain is not getting rain or snow - wishing for snow so we can activate our season passes. The report says that only parts of southern California are getting rain.
