Last week, a friend and I got together for a day of shopping and exploring. Along the way we stopped at Myrtle Creek Botanical Gardens and Nursery in Fallbrook, California for a visit and lunch. What a delightful surprise this place was!
It's tucked into the rolling, oak tree covered hills of Fallbrook. The area is about half an hour from the Pacific coast and the climate is wonderful for growing plants. It gets warmth from the inland valley and moisture and cool breezes from the ocean. The setting and beautiful displays they had were beautiful and magical.
There's a little store in an old farm house with beautiful displays on the porch...
Rocking chairs to relax and take in the beauty...
Inside are creative and fun displays with lots of fun things for sale.
The old kitchen is being used to display canned goodies...
They have some wonderful paintings by a local artist. I love this one! I may even go back to get it. Isn't this cow adorable?!
I loved this idea for wine bottles. I wish I had a little niche in my house to do this...
There's beautiful old fireplace in the old farmhouse. This orange kitty found a warm and cozy place in the basket next to it. So cute!
I love this planter. The little cupid looks like he's sitting in a bubble bath of flowers.
They have a tub of treats to purchase for feeding the goats out by their barn.
This kitty was always busy exploring while we were there.
They have a fairy garden area near the back door of the farm house. There are lots of fairy garden supplies for sale and some cute little gardens to look at.
They have an area for potting plants. It's so cute!
And, of course, since it's a nursery, they have plants for sale. I thought these "Lemon Slice" Petunias were really cute. They were tiny and so colorful and pretty.
They have a little place called, "Cafe Bloom". A caterer brings in fresh food each day made with organic ingredients. They had three choices that day...a chicken wrap (which looked delicious....that's what my friend got) and two different salads (mine was delicious). They also have fresh baked Myrtle Berry Pie as well as lemonade, tea, and bottled drinks.
Lunch can be ordered and put in a basket to eat anywhere on the grounds or they bring the basket to your table. There's a few tables inside...
And, a patio to enjoy the outdoors and beautiful scenery.
We had fun wandering around the grounds. There are pathways, bridges, sitting areas, and this wonderful old barn...
And, goats!...
There were lots of great things to see. I love this and would love to have something like it in my back yard...
Here's one of the areas with chairs to sit and relax and lots of birdhouses hanging in the trees.
They have several old tractors. Here's one under some of the old oak trees...
They had music playing throughout the nursery. It was a nice touch. Turns out they have live music on the weekends. How fun! The birdhouse that announces that is really cute too!
Myrtle Creek turned out to be such a wonderful surprise and the highlight of our day. It's definitely a place I'd love to visit again and again.
